CR Safguard® XL + Molded Cushioning Bus seat cushioning offerings include the highly fire-resistant CR Safguard XL (meets the requirement of FTA Docket 90-A), as well as high-density molded polyurethane cushioning for durable, yet comfortable seating applications.

CR SAFGUARD^® XL

Fully compliant with FTA Docket 90-A, which is the Federal Transit Administration suggested fire safety criteria, eliminating the hazards of FMVSS 302.
Manufactured utilizing a low smoke, Neoprene compound cushioning. This removes foam seating as the largest interior fuel source from the vehicle.
In 3rd party testing, CR SAFGUARD XL extinguishes the flame as FMVSS 302 polyurethane rapidly becomes engulfed.

FMVSS 302 - Aware of the risk?

FMVSS 302 is commonly used as the sole flammability requirement for seat cushioning and covers within bus transportation.
FMVSS 302 is grossly insufficient and outdated for fire safety as it permits the use of polyurethane cushioning that is so flammable the nomenclature "solidified gasoline" is often used to describe it.
FMVSS 302 polyurethane burns profusely, melts and drips igniting surrounding interior components, and emits huge volumes of toxic smoke.
